Leading from the heart - HSE Week 2022

Our Company
December 14, 2022

Ampelmann prides itself on ensuring that employees practice and implement safety in all aspects of their life and take care of their colleagues and all those around them. A strong safety culture fuels a better well-being and balance for employees within the company.

Every year Ampelmann organises HSE Week for all its employees to continuously improve their personal commitment to health, safety and the environment. In this year's edition, all global offices participated and hosted their own activities and sessions to ensure that every team can participate and focus on the goal: Leading from the heart: Caring for each other shapes the spirit and safety of the company.

A successful safety culture consists of a special formula, we learned: 30% Application of Requirements and 70% Personal Commitment. Therefore, the focus this year was on:

  • Individual commitment to thinking about safety daily,
  • Responsibility and owning our actions, and
  • Caring for each other’s safe return home every day.

Throughout the week, guest speakers shared their knowledge and insights on how to lead from the heart when it comes to a stronger safety culture. One story focused on the pathway to development and increasing the biggest safety defense of them all: the human operator, as the strongest link in the safety chain, while another centred around how sustainable innovations and business solutions can positively impact our world and what we can do to start making that happen.

Team building and fun with AR and HSE

HSE Week was also filled with fun activities for Ampelmann employees to work together and put these HSE learnings into practice. The games included safety obstacle run and an augmented reality (AR) game developed in-house by the company's AR team. Ampelmann employees enhanced their knowledge on how to identify unsafe moments during the job and how to correctly handle these situations and take care of each other’s health and safety. The activities tied in perfectly with this year's HSE theme of leading from the heart.

”When you are the main organiser of an event, every year is just as exciting as the previous one,” said Krissi Silianova, HSE Engineer and in the lead of HSE Week. “This year we focused on the human aspect and raising awareness on how people are the strongest link to safety. From an HSE perspective I am not only happy with the event itself, but I feel particularly proud when colleagues express that they gained learnings from the speakers or safety-oriented games we organised for them. The same can be said about Sustainability, which is an increasingly important topic, and we aim to adopt it in our culture, not only in our policies.”

This week always reminds Ampelmann employees of the importance of HSE, how we can ensure the safety and well-being of ourselves and our colleagues and how caring for each other shapes the spirit and safety of the company.
