Ampelmann has opened an office in Taiwan in order to support these developments in the market.

As offshore wind continues to gain momentum in Asia Pacific, Ampelmann has opened an office in Taiwan in order to support these developments in the market. The new office will be manned by Business Development Manager Ramesh Namasivayam, who – together with the teams based in Singapore and Brunei – will be driving the effort to expand the company’s reach in the region.

“The newly established office in Taiwan gives us the opportunity to have a local presence in a country where offshore wind is yet to pick up even further,” says Vincent Chua, Area Manager for Asia Pacific at Ampelmann.

“We see a lot of potential in the market and are excited to make Walk to Work (W2W) the preferred choice for clients to access offshore platforms. Ramesh has been with the company for 7.5 years now and his experience will enable us to get closer to the people we work with and provide them with the local support they need.”

While Ampelmann has been able to secure multiple contracts in Taiwan from its office in Singapore over the past months, the country’s maturing market now calls for a more local and tailored approach. An increasing number of clients are positioned there, and some are even using Taiwan as a hub to start working in the nascent offshore wind markets of Japan and South Korea.

“In the last season, we signed four contracts with different (end) clients to supply our systems to this important and expanding market,” says Namasivayam. “We have mobilised two E1000s and two A-types, which is a significant amount of activity considering our entire fleet in the region is 15 units.”

He continues: “As Taiwan continues to expand its foothold in offshore wind, it is taking up the role of sharing its learnings and servicing other emerging offshore wind markets in the region. It’s the right place to be, to be a part of this green energy shift in APAC.”
